Understanding your Japan entry route — based on nationality
Eligible nationalities
Visa Exemption

Nationals of over 70 countries — including UK, EU, US, Canada, Singapore, and others — can enter Japan without any prior application for stays of 15 or 90 days. Permission is granted on arrival at the Japanese port of entry.

Still worth preparing: Even visa-exempt travellers benefit from a clear itinerary, hotel bookings, return tickets, and proof of funds — border officers in Japan may ask to see these on arrival.

Expanding eligibility
Japan eVisa

Japan has been expanding its eVisa system. Where eligible, the eVisa is applied for online and typically approved within a few business days — faster than the consulate route. Eligibility is nationality-specific and updated periodically.

We check: We confirm your eVisa eligibility instantly and guide you through the online application — including correct document uploads and format requirements.

Most UAE residents
Consulate / VFS Submission

Most UAE residents whose nationality is not visa-exempt or eVisa-eligible submit a full documentation pack through VFS Japan in the UAE, which forwards applications to the Japanese Consulate General Dubai for processing.

Processing: Minimum 8–10 working days (excluding weekends and public holidays). Incomplete applications are rejected outright — not returned for corrections. Preparation is everything.

Every Short-Stay Route

We support UAE residents with documentation for all short-stay Japan travel purposes — tourism, business, family visits, and transit.

🗺️

Japan Requires a Detailed Day-by-Day Travel Itinerary

Unlike most countries, Japan's consulate specifically requires a day-by-day travel itinerary listing every hotel's name, address, and pre-booked confirmation for each night of your stay. Vague plans or unbooked accommodation are among the top reasons Japan consulate applications are rejected outright — with no opportunity to resubmit corrections. We guide you in building a complete, properly formatted itinerary that meets this requirement precisely.

What You Need
to Submit

The Japanese Consulate requires a specific, complete documentation pack. Missing or incorrectly formatted documents result in full rejection — not a request for additional information. We review everything before you submit.

⏱️

Processing Time — 8 to 10 Working Days Minimum

Processing takes a minimum of 8–10 working days from the date of submission, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and Japanese public holidays. If documents are not submitted as per consulate requirements, processing can extend to 3–4 weeks. A complete, correctly formatted pack submitted on the first attempt is essential.

1

Passport (Original)

Original passport with sufficient validity. Must be submitted physically through VFS Japan in the UAE — your passport will be returned with the permit sticker on approval.

Original required
2

UAE Visa & Emirates ID

Clear copy of your valid UAE residence visa and Emirates ID. Both must be valid at the time of application and ideally valid for the duration of your intended Japan trip.

Copy accepted
3

Passport Photos

Recent photograph (not older than 6 months), high-resolution, white background, clear face. Must be physically glued to the application form — staples are not accepted.

Must be glued — no staples
4

Confirmed Air Ticket

A confirmed return flight ticket showing your entry and exit dates. Onward travel must be booked — open-ended tickets or search results are not accepted.

Return booking required
5

No Objection Letter (NOC) from Employer

An original letter from your UAE employer on company letterhead, addressed specifically to the Consul-General of Japan in Dubai. Must state your position, monthly income, and approved leave dates. Must be originally signed with the signatory's full name and designation, and officially stamped. Electronic letters must note "Electronically Generated" and carry an original stamp or signature. If you are a company owner or partner, an NOC is still required. Free Zone owners must also submit a Salary Certificate issued by the Free Zone authority.

6

Bank Statements — 3 Months

Updated 3-month bank statement showing account name, daily transactions, and running balance. Online statements are accepted. Japan looks for stable, consistent income — not a recent large deposit. Statements must demonstrate sufficient funds to cover your trip.

3 months · daily transactions visible · online OK
7

Detailed Travel Itinerary

A complete day-by-day travel plan listing hotel names, addresses, and confirmation numbers for every night of your stay in Japan. Must align exactly with your flight and accommodation bookings. Vague or incomplete itineraries cause rejection.

Every night must be accounted for

What UAE Applicants
Often Get Wrong

Japan's consulate rejects incomplete applications outright. These are the most common errors we help UAE residents fix before they submit.

📸

Photo Stapled — Not Glued

Japan's consulate specifically requires the applicant's photo to be physically glued to the application form. Photos attached with staples are a grounds for rejection. It's a small detail that catches many first-time applicants off guard.

We remind you of every formatting requirement like this — the ones that seem minor but cause real problems at submission.
📄

NOC Not Addressed Correctly

Many UAE applicants submit employer letters that are not specifically addressed to the Consul-General of Japan in Dubai, omit the monthly salary, or lack the signatory's full name and designation. Any of these omissions can result in rejection.

We provide an exact NOC template meeting Japan consulate requirements and review every letter before submission.
🏦

Unstable Bank Statement Pattern

Japan looks for consistent, stable income across 3 months — not just a high balance. A large single deposit just before applying, irregular credits, or a statement that doesn't show daily transactions are all red flags for the consulate.

We advise on the correct statement format and what the transaction history needs to demonstrate to satisfy the consulate.
🗺️

Incomplete or Vague Itinerary

Submitting a general travel plan without hotel names, addresses, and pre-booked confirmation numbers for every single night is one of the most common reasons Japan applications are rejected outright, with no chance to resubmit.

We guide you in building a complete, correctly formatted day-by-day itinerary that matches your flight and accommodation bookings precisely.

Common Questions
from UAE Applicants

It depends on your nationality. UAE residents who hold passports from visa-exempt countries (many European, US, UK, Australian, and other Western nationals) can enter Japan for 15 or 90 days without any prior application. Others may qualify for Japan's eVisa. Those on neither list must apply through VFS Japan in the UAE. We confirm your route immediately on WhatsApp at no charge.
The Japanese Consulate General Dubai processes complete applications in a minimum of 8–10 working days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and Japanese public holidays. If documents are not submitted as per consulate requirements, processing can extend to 3–4 weeks. Importantly, incomplete applications are rejected outright — there is no opportunity to supplement missing documents after submission. Getting the pack right before you submit is critical.
No — unlike UK or Canada applications, Japan does not require pre-travel biometric enrolment in the UAE. Your fingerprints and face photograph are captured on arrival at a Japanese port of entry. No appointment at VFS or any UAE centre is needed for biometrics. VFS Japan in the UAE is used only for document submission, not biometric collection.
Japan's consulate is specific: the NOC must be an original letter from your UAE employer on company letterhead, addressed specifically to the Consul-General of Japan in Dubai. It must state your full name, position, monthly income, and approved leave dates. It must be originally signed with the signatory's full name and designation, and officially stamped. Electronic letters must state "Electronically Generated" and carry an original stamp or signature. If you are a company owner or partner, an NOC is still required. Free Zone owners must additionally provide a Salary Certificate issued by the Free Zone authority. We provide a complete template and review your letter before submission.
Yes. Previous Japan application rejections must be declared and can affect future applications if not properly addressed. We review what likely caused the rejection — the most common reasons are an incomplete itinerary, incorrectly addressed or formatted NOC, unstable bank statement pattern, or photo format issues — and help you build a complete, correctly prepared pack before you reapply.
Initial consultation on WhatsApp is completely free. Our service fee depends on your entry route and the level of support required. Message us for a clear upfront quote — no hidden charges, no surprises.
